Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
In this rare Soviet film from Turkmenistan, the sad story is told of a cheerful woman, from a goat- and sheep-herding family, waiting patiently and eagerly for her husband to return from his service in World War II. Everything reminds her of him, from the tent they live in to their negotiations with a nearby village for the sale of a few animals. Early on in the film, the fact that her husband will never return is made clear. This film won the USSR state prize for outstanding cultural achievement.
