Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Nattvaktena Hustra translates loosely as The Watchman's Wife. The title character, played by Britta Holmberg, is a provincial lass who finds herself stranded sans housing and means of support in Stockholm. Befriended by a night watchman (Ake Gronberg), the girl marries the man out of gratitude. But she doesn't truly love him as she proves when the first eligible (and wealthy) bachelor comes along. Happily, the new wife realizes the folly of her actions before it's too late. Reviewers in America carped that so old-fashioned a storyline should have been more professionally assembled.
