Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
It is 1944 in this theatrical war drama, and the lead singer in a nightclub in Sofia continues on with her job without thinking very much about the war -- it is due to end soon, as everyone knows, yet the state police are still hunting down resistance fighters. When a notoriously vicious state's attorney is murdered in the nightclub by a resistance fighter, the police come in and immediately round everyone up for interrogation -- including the orchestra. Since the lead singer unwittingly had helped the murderer escape, she is particularly vulnerable even though innocent. Once the brutal police are finished with the "interrogation," their methods leave death and agony in their wake - and a completely new group of resistance fighters are born in what used to be a neutral lead singer and her orchestra.
