synopsis
When a Jewish widower agrees to go from England to Germany in 1935 to help find the Mother of a German refugee boy, he is captured and tortured. Through the efforts of an old friend, he is finally released and eventually finds the young boy's Mother. Based on a novel by Louis Golding, the story is more of the anti-Semitism of Germany and the all-pervasive indoctrination of the German people that is shown than the actual relationship of the elderly Jewish man to the young boy he seeks to help.
