Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

The questionable interrogation tactics of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are illuminated in this documentary from broadcast news reporter turned filmmaker Tiffany Burns. An interrogation tactic that first became known to the Canadian public following the 1998 case in which a Manitoba man was accused of murdering a fourteen year old girl, "Mr. Big" investigations involve a policeman posing as an underworld figure in order to coerce a confession. Each year dozens of these "Mr. Big" style operations are conducted beneath the official radar of the taxpayers who fund Canadian law enforcement, with a substantial number of convictions made as a result of these tactics eventually being overturned. Linda Fisher, mother to convicted murderer Patrick Fisher, believes that her son was strong-armed into giving the false confession that would subsequently land Patrick in jail, and has subsequently made it her life mission to get "Mr. Big" banned. Despite this, only one citizen with the bravery to fight back against "Mr. Big" has been successful in his efforts. Targeted for the murder to two warehouse workers, Edmonton resident Jason Dix became the subject of a thirteen month-long "Mr. Big" sting that eventually landed him in jail for over two years. While no U.S. court considers the confessions made in "Mr. Big" operations admissible in court, Burns' own brother Sebastian and his friend Atif Rafay fell victim to this underhanded tactic after a 1994 incident in which three of Rafay's relatives were brutally slain in their Bellevue, Washington home. As a result, investigative reporter Burns decided that the only way to do away with "Mr. Big" is to make the Canadian public aware of this controversial tactic once and for all.
