This classical documentary profiles the life, times and work of German-born 19th Century Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn (1809-47). Director Angelo Bozzolini draws from original letters exchanged by Mendelssohn and his sister Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, and features evocative images of the period that the Mendelssohns inhabited. A series of contemporary composers and music historians also appear on-camera, to guide us through Mendelssohn's all-too-brief 38 years.
