Synopsis
Black veterans of World War I (when the Army was segregated) recall battlefield exploits and behind-the-lines prejudice. The program focuses on the all-volunteer 15th New York Regiment (later renamed the 369th), and archival footage shows the men training in Harlem and fighting in the Argonne Forest (under French command, the only way the U.S. would let them see action). Produced and directed by William Miles.
