Synopsis
Conclusion. Three short documentaries focus on census racial categories, a young Cambodian immigrant and a young Native American couple, respectively. In the whimsical "Every Other," a young woman who's half black and half Korean (Yong-Suk Jones) confronts the 2000 census. Which racial category should she choose for herself? "I'm something special," she says, "like a new flavor of ice cream." "Who I Became" follows 21-year-old Pounloeu Chea as he struggles to make his way in San Francisco's Tenderloin after his parents move back to Cambodia. And in "I Belong to This," Dustinn and Velma Craig wonder where they belong: on Arizona's White Mountain Reservation or in Phoenix, where they live.
