After her husband, Vernon Castle, enlisted to fight in World War I, Irene Castle starred in a number of films. Although it was easy to guess the culprit in this murder mystery -- Castle's second picture for Astra -- it has enough clever moments and fast action to entertain. Alice Trowbridge (Castle) is the adopted daughter of wealthy Rowland Trowbridge (J.H. Gilmour). Two men want to marry Alice -- Trowbridge's nephew, Kane Langdon (Antonio Moreno), and the old man's lawyer, Judge Hoyt (John Sainpolis). Trowbridge favors the judge, but Alice loves Langdon. Langdon wants his uncle to help finance a mining deal, but he refuses. Next he tries to get his hands on some bonds with the help of the housekeeper (Elinor Black). When Trowbridge is discovered murdered in Van Courtland park, Langdon is the logical suspect. But Alice is convinced he is innocent and they work together to unmask the real killer.
