In the home video release Mahler: Symphony 1 & 2, The Berlin Philharmonic plays the two titular works by. Gustav Mahler, in D major and C minor, respectively. The composer penned the first between 1884-1888, after the tone poem Titan; it was performed and filmed in January 1994. He wrote the second, known as the "Resurrection," between 1888 and 1894; it was performed and filmed in January 1993. Here, soprano Sylvia McNair and contralto Jard van Nes perform as vocalists. Bernard Haitink conducts.
