The made-for-cable reality series Love U examined the lengths to which certain people will go to satisfy their loved ones. On the first episode, a moonstruck young fellow agreed to undergo a "life exam" to see if he was truly worthy of his very exacting sweetheart. The couple then signed up for a prenuptial boot camp to find out if indeed their match was made in heaven -- and to test their mettle in a variety of mental and physical challenges that often had less to do with romance than with entertaining the home viewers (a tractor-trailer obstacle course?). Although the participants and the circumstances that brought them before the cameras varied from episode to episode, the boot-camp remained a constant, as the courting couples were scrupulously supervised by host Marki Costello (a former showbiz casting agent) and a panel of three relationship experts, who gave points for compatibility in the same manner that Olympic judges rated athletes.
