Although they were touted as a team in their series of comedies together, Plump (Oliver Hardy) and Runt (Billy Ruge) were adversaries just as often as they were pals. In this one-reeler they were definitely at odds. Plump is an Army private who is the bane of Lieutenant Runt's existence. To make matters worse, Runt loves the Colonel's daughter (Florence McLoughlin), but she's infatuated with Plump, who isn't even interested. Plump is having a romance with the "pet of the regiment" (Ray Godfrey), and Runt proves it to the Colonel's daughter, who vindictively swears revenge. She has Plump arrested on false charges, but his girlfriend helps him escape. When an explosion causes the Colonel (Bert Tracy) to fall off his horse into the river, Plump comes to his rescue. As a result he is cleared of the charges against him. He's happy with his girl, while the Colonel's daughter makes do with Runt.
