Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
This buddy film is set in San Francisco chronicles the friendship between a moronic rich boy and a middle-aged, cynical jazz pianist. The young man, Rufus hails from tiny Pacific Heights. He leaves home after his father demands he go to Dartmouth. He stays with Ellman, a guitarist in the rock band that Rufus plays the drum in. It is Ellman who meets Jerry, a jazz pianist, whom Ellman persuades to join the band. Jerry is still bitter from an early chance at fame within the jazz circuit. Somehow Jerry and Rufus become friends. Included in the film are many blues, jazz, and rock songs.
