Synopsis by Robert Firsching

In this typical women's prison film from director Jesus Franco, two young lovers are falsely accused and sent to Devil's Island by corrupt South American despot Col. Mendoza (Jean Guedes) and his mistress Emilia Franval (Danielle Godet). The lovers, Raymond (Andres Resino) and Beatriz (Genevieve Deloire) face the usual tortures and sexual indignities at the hands of their jailers (Howard Vernon, Luis Barboo), or they don't, depending on the version. Two different edits of this film exist, with the 75-minute Spanish version focusing more on character development, while the 83-minute French version removes some narrative scenes in order to dwell on torture and violence with about 15 minutes of new footage. Dennis Price, Rosa Palomares, and Gogo Rojo co-star, with the requisite flesh provided by cult starlets Britt Nichols, Anne Libert, and Josiane Gibert. The film was shot in Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands.
