In a gripping and often violent drama about the London underworld and the Irish Republican Army, a leading gangster comes up against more than he can handle. Harold (Bob Hoskins) is a powerful mob boss whose turf covers the London waterfront and sizeable amounts of cash. Harold guarantees the security of a major land development project that involves a large investment from U.S. corporations. Just when everything seems to be going as it should, the Easter weekend dawns and Harold's right-hand men are violently murdered while much of his property is blown up. Completely at a loss to explain these attacks, it takes some digging before he discovers that the government's urban planning chief and a blackmail scheme have made him a random target of the IRA.
