The Bayreuther Festspiele mounted this 1993 production of Richard Wagner's 1850 opera Lohengrin, with staging by the legendary film director Werner Herzog. The cast includes Manfred Shenk as König Heinrich, Paul Frey as Lohengrin, Cherl Studer as Elsa Von Brabant, and Ekkehard Wlaschiha as Friedrich von Telramund. The Orchester der Bayreuther Festspiele and the Chor der Bayreuther Festspiele lend musical accompaniment, with Paul Schneider and Norbert Balatsch serving, respectively, as conductor and chorus master; Henning von Gierke designed the sets and costumes.
