Synopsis by Mark Deming
On July 13, 1985, some of the biggest names in popular music joined forces on both sides of the Atlantic with one goal in mind -- to help end hunger and famine in Africa. A worldwide audience of 1.5 billion people watched the massive Live Aid concerts from London and Philadelphia on television, and ten hours of highlights from those shows are featured on this special home-video collection. Live Aid includes exclusive live performances from Eric Clapton, U2, The Who, Sting, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Neil Young, and many, many more. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this release will be donated to the Band Aid Trust, which continues to fund hunger relief in the Third World.
