Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
In this video lesson, Kathy Blake and Gene Russo introduce viewers to the exciting 1930s and 1940s dance known as the Jitterbug. This fun and lively dance is also known as the "Swing" or the "Lindy." Rather agile and fearless partners are needed for the acrobatic swings and lifts. However, less physically demanding versions are also danced at various ballroom gatherings. As Russo and Blake do a number of the basic steps, viewers will hear some of the "jive" or "jump" music that often accompanies the Jitterbug. Viewers interested in learning more complicated steps can obtain the separate Jitterbug video volumes two and three.
