Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The Yugoslavian Legends of Anika was based on a novel by Ivo Andric. Bratislav Grible stars as Mihalio, an amorous young shepherd who pines away for his lost love Anika (Milene Dapcevic). Ever searching for a replacement, Mihalio romances several other zaftig young ladies, eventually suffering for his promiscuity when he is caught in the act with a sexy farmer's wife. Returning to his hometown, Mihalio is disillusioned to learn that his beloved Anika is now a prostitute. By the time he learns that she's always been spiritually faithful to him, it's too late. Legends of Anika was one of a mere handful of Yugoslavian productions to be afforded an America release in the mid-1950s.
