As staged and mounted at the Comunidad de Madrid, this colorful stage production exemplifies zarzuela, an unusual genre of Spanish theater. Authored by Tomás Bretón, La Verbena de La Paloma weaves the tale of romance transpiring on a Madrid street, during the popular Our Lady of the Dove fiesta. The ensemble features José Antonio López, Amparo Navarro, Marina Pardo and David Rubiera; The Orchestra and Chorus of the Comunidad de Madrid, under the baton of Miguel Roa, provide musical accompaniment.
