Synopsis by Hal Erickson

A novel by Louis-Frederic Rouquette was the inspiration for La Bete Errante. The title translates as The Wandering Beast, though it might just as well have been named "The Abominable Snowman." Set in Alaska (actually the Swiss Alps), the story concerns a small village held in thrall by a huge, monstrous animal. Several killings occur, though not all of them can be attributed to the beast. Eskimo Os-Ko-Mon plays a major role. Apparently beset by profound production problems, La Bete Errante went several months past its original shooting schedule, wreaking havoc on the film's continuity.
