Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This Swedish film parallels discontent with Sweden's highly controlled and socialized society with the situations encountered by Helge (Lars Brannstrom), a vacationing factory worker. Helge is suddenly jarred out of his usual ways when, just before the factory shuts down for the holidays, he almost loses his arm in a machine. His joy at being able to keep his arm transports him into a new way of looking at the world, and leads him to give away most of his vacation pay. In yet another accident, he gets his first glimpse of the beautiful girl Klara Lust. He decides to spend his vacation looking for her. His quest leads him to question many things about the world he lives in.
