synopsis
Winner of a special jury citation at the 1996 Toronto International Film Festival, this more-than offbeat outing offers a surprisingly sensitive and even somewhat romantic portrait of a necrophiliac. Since childhood, Sandra has been drawn to the dead and it is not surprising that she ends up working in a funeral home where she finds herself irresistibly drawn to the deceased men within. She gets her employer, Mr. Wallis, to teach her to embalm (in some very graphic scenes) and from there is free to love any corpse of her choosing. Her boyfriend Matt (a living guy) tries to help Sandra with her creepy obsession, but it is an uphill battle all the way. Kissed is the debut film of Canadian director Lynne Stopkewich.
