Isle of Forgotten Sins (1943)
by Hans J. Wollstein review

Despite Edgar G. Ulmer's more recent reputation among cineastes, Isle of Forgotten Sins remains a badly lit excursion into inertia and only too typical of bottom-feeder company PRC. Ulmer reportedly had great fun ducking the Production Code Administration's ban on the depiction of prostitutes and despite allusions to gambling, Marge's establishment of the title remains rather obviously a brothel. The director's deft manipulations, however, are no substitutes for a decent script and production values.
