Synopsis by Mark Deming

Iron Maiden was one of the first bands to emerge from the "new wave of British heavy metal" underground in the late '70s, and in time it grew from a young band eager to fly the flag for heavy metal to one of the biggest and most influential groups the genre ever produced. Iron Maiden: The Legacy of the Beast is an unauthorized documentary which traces the story of Iron Maiden's rise to prominence, including rare photos, footage of the band, and interviews with guitarist Dennis Stratton and original vocalist Paul Di'Anno. Iron Maiden: The Legacy of the Beast was created without the participation of the band and features no music or performances by Iron Maiden.
