This documentary, part of the Investigative Reports series from A&E, examines the rising problem of counterfeit money. Narrated by Investigative Reports host and producer Bill Kurtis, this video shows how the advent of technology only aids the expediency and efficiency of counterfeiters. Computers and color printers have not only helped large, organized counterfeiters, but also allowed smaller counterfeiting outfits to surface. The Secret Service agency of the Treasury Department does what it can to stop this problem, but still counterfeiting has increased in the 1990s. With the appearance of the newly designed U.S. currency, the American government has shown they are determined to get to the bottom of this problem. But, counterfeiting operations go far beyond the border of the United States. This documentary features interviews with the law enforcement agents who work on stopping counterfeiters around the world, from the U.S. to Iran to Germany to Russia and beyond.
