synopsis
A gamekeeper who can neither speak nor hear keeps solitary watch from the tower of a crumbling castle using binoculars and a telescope. Across the river, and in full sight of his telescope, a house is built by what turns out to be a painter. He carefully observes everything which he can see of the interactions between the painter and his mistress/model as their relationship develops and deteriorates.
