Synopsis by Nathan Southern
As adapted from a popular novel by Alexander Turchynov and helmed by Alexander Kirienko, this hallucinatory Russian language thriller (with an all-star Russian cast) unfurls in the 1990s; it concerns a businessman named Igor Korov (Andrei Panin) who has seemingly achieved everything one could want or need, including vast wealth, power, and a prestigious office at the center of the city. His fate changes dramatically, however, when he encounters the dark underbelly of success and everything that comes with it, including blackmail, racketeering, jealousy, backstabbing and revenge. Suddenly, he finds his life dominated by the terror of losing everything he has worked so hard to attain, and his hold on reality itself begins to slip.
