Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

The trio of films in this movie in some way all involve the victims of the overthrow of the Chilean government of Salvador Allende. The first, "I Explain Certain Things," concerns a man who is dying in exile. The second, "Slowly," shows a Chilean girl living in exile in Canada, trying to deal with the events of the recent past. The third story, "Day of Steel," shows a highly educated exile who has few English skills, and who must work at menial jobs, writing to his wife back in Chile and describing his current life.
