Presented by the Court TV cable network, I, Detective was a mixture of documentary, mystery-drama, and quiz program. Each week, a baffling police case (many of them genuine) was dramatized. Just before the solution was announced, the action halted, whereupon the folks at home were invited to solve the mystery themselves. In addition to the standard clues, the viewers were pumped with multiple-choice questions based on what had just transpired. With the assistance of the Court TV website, viewers could be instantly interactive if they so chose. I, Detective premiered on September 4, 2002.
