Author and exercise expert Covert Bailey shares his views on the best ways for everyone to try and get in shape as quickly as possible. He discusses a "treadmill test" that measures the amount of oxygen the body uses while exercising and also addresses the importance of paying close attention to what one eats. Bailey uses the illustration of a muscle cell to help viewers understand the basic chemistry that takes place while a person exercises. He explains how muscles work and which exercises are likely to help the most when someone is trying to lose weight quickly. As for his general philosophy on exercising, Bailey stresses the importance of "long, slow distances."
