Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Also known as His Wife's Lover, this Yiddish-language production was advertised as "The First Jewish Musical Comedy Talkie." Comedian Ludwig Satz stars as a handsome stage actor who bets his misogynistic friend that honest women do exist. To prove his point, Satz disguises himself as a wealthy old man, then tries to inveigle a pretty young girl to marry him for his money. When she does so, he sneaks off, sheds his disguise, and appears as "himself," offering to be the girl's secret lover. At first she appears to succumb to his charms, but just when Satz is convinced that he's lost his bet, the girl turns out to be true-blue after all. Charley Chase used to do this sort of thing all the time in his silent 2-reel comedies.
