Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This mystery was based on a novel, The White Rock, by J.B. Harris-Burland. Lady Miriam Grimwood (Dorothy Dalton) is unhappily married to a much older man. Sir Robert Grimwood (Warren Cook) neglects his wife and spends most of his free time playing chess. When a former suitor, John Heritage (Henry Mortimer), comes for a visit, it renews their attraction towards each other. After catching his wife and Heritage together, Sir Grimwood asks Heritage to stay for a game of chess, since his usual partner, Ling Foo (Paul Cazeneuve), has canceled. Later that night, Grimwood drowns in a nearby lake. Heritage is suspected of murdering him, but he has already taken off for India, where he is serving as a major in the British army. A few months later, a neighbor of Miriam's, Lord Wiverly (Richard Neal), proposes to her. He also reveals a letter from the late Grimwood which implicates Heritage in his death. She agrees to the marriage, but Heritage returns from India just in time to put a halt to everything. It turns out that Wiverly and Ling Foo were in league together to get Grimwood, who had killed Ling Foo's son while he was traveling through Tibet. Not only did they kill him, they also planned to murder Miriam, too. Ling Foo winds up behind bars and Miriam finds happiness with Heritage.
