Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Best-selling author Hudson Newbrook (Harry Mestayer) spends his spare time in search of the "Ideal Woman." Inaugurating a correspondence with demure country girl Barbara Edwards (Jean Calhoun), Hudson soon falls in love with the girl. But when he invites her to share his home and heart, she rejects him, put off by his supposed "Bohemian" lifestyle. Ultimately, Hudson marries his ex-flame, actress Polly Stairs (Yvonne Pavis), not because he cares anything about her, but to prevent Polly from leading Barbara's ingenuous brother Bob (Jack Rollins) astray. The trade magazine Variety wrote of Hide Tide as only "mildly interesting."
