Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
A re-edited version of 1917's The Frame-Up, this silent action melodrama features William Russell as Jeffrey Claiborne, a socialite rescuing pretty Mary Jane (Francelia Billington) from the unwanted attentions of a cab driver. In return, the girl offers him a position with her mother's taxi company. They fall in love, but Mary Jane's mother (Lucille Ward) doesn't consider the newcomer proper marriage material -- until, that is, Jeffrey rescues the woman from a gang of blackmailers threatening to expose her tawdry past. Why this minor effort from the long defunct American Film Co. should have been re-released five years later remains a mystery.
