Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Vivian Martin plays Frances Fletcher, a young girl of pre-Civil War era America. After her father dies, she goes to live with her uncle (Herbert Standing), but since her uncle is expecting a nephew to show up, she has to disguise herself as a boy. That's the only way she can guarantee she'll have a share in his estate. It is during her stay that the Civil War breaks out. Frances's uncle takes a young Union lieutenant (Alfred Vosburgh) in as a guest, and the soldier takes a liking to his host's nephew. He takes even more of a liking to the nephew when it is eventually revealed that she's really a niece.
