Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Gambling proprietor John DeForrest uses Lil (Lillian Wiggins) to lure wealthy suckers into his den, where he drains them of their money. One of her victims is Jack (Jack Bryce), who is ashamed of losing his fortune, so he leaves his fiancee Phyllis (Phyllis Gray) and goes West. DeForrest gives Lil money to go away and tells Phyllis that Jack eloped with her. Then he convinces the vulnerable girl to marry him. Meanwhile, Lil has landed in the same town as Jack and she tells him what DeForrest has done. She also rats on him to the police. DeForrest runs off and Phyllis goes to Jack. They are reunited when Jack shows her a notice announcing DeForrest's death. A year later they are married and have a baby and DeForrest shows up, very much alive. He plans to blackmail Phyllis, but Lil, who is now a charity worker, refuses to let him. They argue and he accidentally shoots and kills himself.
