Synopsis by Mark Deming

A woman learns a powerful lesson about the triumphs and disappointments of art and love in this drama from writer and director Laura Sivakova. Clara (Zuzana Kanocz) is a talented young classical dancer who is studying with a well-respected Spanish ballet company, whose director want to make Clara a star. But Clara's ambitions come crashing to the ground when she suffers a severely sprained ankle that will prevent her from dancing for several months, and things get even worse when her boyfriend decides it's time to break up with her. Heartbroken, out of work and with no place to live, Clara finds a benefactor in Rudolph (Bronislaw Wroclawski), a doctor who needs someone to help look after his daughter. Rudolph hires Clara as a nanny, which gives her an income and a place to stay, and while she's grateful for the work, her outlook on the job changes when Clara and Rudolph begin having an affair. Nebo, Pekio . . . Zem (aka Heaven, Hell . . . Earth) received its North American premiere at the 2010 Cinequest Film Festival .
