The Lindsays have earned deserved reputations over the decades as four of the world's premier interpreters of string quartet music, and have become markedly known for the unusual intensity of their ensemble readings. With a final membership consisting of Robin Ireland, Ronald Birks, Peter Cropper, and Bernard Gregor-Smith, the group assembles in this outing for an array of farewell performances just prior to disbandment, during the 2004 Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival. Here, The Lindsays perform a number of string quartets by Franz Joseph Haydn: Opus 20 Nos. 2 & 5, Opus 33 No. 3,Opus 42Opus 54 Nos. 1 & 2,and Opus 76 No. 5.
