Synopsis by Mark Deming

The lives of three different women come together in unexpected ways in this offbeat drama from filmmaker Sherman Ong. Momo is a Japanese woman in her twenties who works as a delivery person for a restaurant, dropping off bento box lunches to office workers who often eat at their desks. Two of Momo's regular customers are Junko and Shino, who work side by side. Momo has struck up a casual friendship with the women after seeing them several times a week, and she often talks about her hopes and dreams while giving them their lunch. At the same time, Junko and Shino sometimes discuss the current state of their love lives with Momo, which has been eventful lately; Junko, who is in her mid-thirties, is worried that she and her boyfriend are on the road to a messy break-up, while Shino who is over fifty, has just heard from a former lover for the first time in three decades. In Hashi, director Sherman Ong cast several different actresses to play the principal characters in different scenes, using this technique to reflect the multifaceted personalities on display.
