Although Raimond deMornay (Robert Mantell) is in love with his cousin, Claire (Genevieve Hamper), his younger brother Louis (Stuart Holmes) wins her. Because of the intense jealousy he harbors towards Louis, Raimond goes to Vienna, and then to India. He returns home at the request of his nephew Paul -- Louis and Claire's son. But Raimond's jealousy is still overpowering, and with the aid of a box containing cobra poison, he murders his brother and hides his body in a casket. With Louis out of the way, Raimond tries to woo Claire, but is unsuccessful. So he takes her to the casket and opens the lid. The sight of her dead husband causes her to die from shock. Raimond has become unhinged, but still no one suspects him of murder. Then one day he decides to show Paul the casket, and when he sees his brother's skeleton, Raimond collapses and dies.
