This Australian sitcom was based on Mister Peepers, a popular American series of the 1950s; both programs were in fact created by producer/writer/director David Swift. The original series starred Wally Cox as wimpy but lovable high school science teacher Robinson Peepers, and lasted for three seasons (1952-1955). The Australian version starred Allen Lander as wimpy but lovable high school science teacher Mr. Doubleday, and lasted 18 half-hour episodes. Good Morning Mr. Doubleday was syndicated by Fremantle beginning February 9, 1969.
