Going Places (1998)

Synopsis by Alice Day
Host James Avery guides the viewer on a trip through San Francisco in Going Places: San Francisco, another installment in the PBS travel series. A bike trip across the Golden Gate Bridge is shown to be a good way to appreciate the vistas of California sunshine, sparkling waters of the bay, and cooling fog as the sun sets. There is a visit to Alcatraz, where some of the worst criminals were incarcerated. Food can be as simple as the bounty from the sea -- oysters, crabs, fresh shrimp, and fish -- or as exotic as the Chinese roast ducks seen hanging in the windows of Chinatown shops.
