Synopsis by Nathan Southern
The Pennsylvania-born new wave composer and avant-garde guitarist Glenn Branca is known for a wealth of accomplishments - founder of The Theoretical Girls and The Static, one of the key forces behind totalist post-minimalism, and author of innumerable symphonies. Branca conducts two of those symphonies, written for orchestra, in the home release Glenn Branca: Symphonies 8 and 10 -- Live at the Kitchen. 1992's Symphony No. 8 (The Mystery) and 1994's Symphony No. 10 (The Mystery, Pt. 2) are performed by a ten-member ensemble including Steven Antonelli on alto guitar and Eric Hubel on tenor guitar.
