Synopsis by Cammila Collar
This 1978 anime series by Hayao Miyazaki takes place in a world in which at least half the Earth's population has been killed by a massive, magnetically based weapon. A small colony of people beginning a new life and new world form a community on an island and there, a small boy named Conan lives, enjoying the adventures of childhood and representing more hope than he could realize. This series was based on the book The Incredible Tide by Alexander Key and many believe that the characters in Future Boy Conan served as templates for the characters Miyazaki would later create in Castle in the Sky.
