Rudolph Valentino, not yet a star, was billed as Rodolfo di Valentini in this mediocre society drama. He apparently wasn't very good in it; the critic for trade magazine Moving Picture World referred to his "amateurishness." Out of the featured players, he is the last billed. Mrs. Macmillan (Kathleen Kirkham) is having a passionate affair with the much younger Count Robert di San Fraccini (Valentino). When she finds out that a man is blackmailing her husband (Edward Jobson), Mrs. Macmillan and the Count scheme to get the money for themselves. To do this, he courts the Macmillan's daughter, Mary (Vera Sisson). Mary is not interested, since she already has a sweetheart, but when the Count mentions that her father will be saved from prison if she marries him, she reluctantly agrees. Douglas, her sweetheart (Frank Newberg), is shattered, but the marriage is only one of convenience. The Count continues to see Mary's mother. While out riding, the Count and Mrs. Macmillan are in a car accident and she is killed. He runs away to escape the consequences. Douglas clears Mr. Macmillan's name and has Mary's marriage annulled by the church.
