Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
In the third live recording of Chicago-based tenor sax legend Fred Anderson, the popular Windy City performer is joined by percussionist Hamid Drake and bassist Harrison Bankhead in offering a very special show at the Velvet Lounge. Its days numbered by the unforgiving strike of the wrecking ball, the Velvet Lounge held host to some of jazz's brightest stars over the years. Now, as Anderson, Drake, and Bankhead gather to pay tribute to the one location where they truly felt at home on the stage, audiences can finally find out why both the musician and the venue itself were two of the best kept secrets in contemporary jazz.
