Synopsis by Mark Deming

A woman gets an unexpected visitor whose presence is both joyous and troubling in this short drama from filmmakers James Anderson and Robert Postrozny. Betty (Helen Rose) is an elderly widow living in a suburb outside of Chicago. Betty is dealing with the inevitabilities of old age -- many of her friends are gone, her past memories far outshine her present circumstances, and she knows she has only so long left to go. Lonely Betty is delighted when her twenty-something grandson stops by for a visit, but while he wants to wish her a happy birthday, turning 96 is something she would rather not think about. Forgetting Betty was honored as the Best Short Film at the 2006 Chicago International Film Festival.
