Synopsis by Janiss Garza
In this tale of old California, Marta Raquel Estevan (Clara Kimball Young) is a religious, convent-bred miss. When her guardian asks that she marry his son, Rafael Artega (Bergram Grassby), so that she might watch over his soul, she readily agrees. But to her dismay, she finds out this is an impossible task -- Rafael cares about nothing but women, wine, and celebration. On top of that, she has fallen in love with an American, Keith Bryton (J. Frank Glendon), who she nursed back to health after he was attacked by Indians. Luckily for Marta, Rafael's wild ways lead him to an early death, and she is able to be with the man of her choice.
