Produced for Canadian TV, this animated special is based on Lynn Johnston's widely syndicated comic strip For Better or for Worse. The loosely based storyline follows the Patterson family as they prepare for Christmas. After a wild slapstick sequence, things settle down for a touching finale. Some of the characters' voices are suppled by Lynn Johnston's own children. For Better or for Worse: The Bestest Present debuted in America over the HBO cable service in December of 1986.
